Coventry’s Historical Overview

Established in 1879, the Coventry Godiva Harriers is the city's oldest athletics club. Initially, the club's activities included summer athletic events at local fetes and winter 'Hare and Hound' chases. Over the years, the club has produced notable athletes such as Basil Heatley, a former marathon world record holder and 1964 Olympic silver medallist; Brian Kilby, a 1962 European and Commonwealth Games marathon champion; and David Moorcroft, who set a world record in the 5000m in 1982.

Warwick University Athletics and Cross Country Club (WUAXC)

WUAXC is one of the largest and most active sports clubs on campus, welcoming members from all disciplines and backgrounds. Regular training sessions are complemented by a lively social scene,The university boasts a well-maintained athletics track located on the Westwood side of the campus. Coventry Godiva Harriers

This club provides training across multiple disciplines, including track and field, cross country, and road running. They offer programs for different age groups, from youth to masters, and have a dedicated wheelchair racing academy.

Sphinx Athletic Club

Founded in 1984, Sphinx AC is known for its friendly atmosphere, welcoming runners of all abilities. They organize regular training sessions and host events like the Sphinx AC Summer 5-mile race and the Coombe 8 cross-country race. 

Northbrook Athletic Club
