A Look At Life And A Look Of Love. The hits earned their place in pop history. From Poison Arrow to The Look Of Love, from All Of My Heart, and Be Near Me, to When Smokey Sings, ABC were the band that redefined glamour and cool.
Led by the charismatic Martin Fry, they enjoyed TransAtlantic success as The Lexicon of Love proved as artful as a Warhol silkscreen, and glossier than Marilyn’s lipstick.
ABC’s The Lexicon of Love was a brilliantly distinctive debut album, fizzing with bright ideas, and unapologetically flamboyant.
Frontman Martin Fry harked back to a golden era of luxe, as though Cole Porter had been re-imagined among the narrow streets of Sheffield.
Little wonder his sleek, opulent, and beautiful debut retains the affection of listeners four decades on. With good reason, it has stood the test of time.
And so has Martin Fry, who will bring an evening of stripped-back music and conversation to UK theatres in celebration.
His intimate tour follows a sold-out tour of the UK, which included three sell out nights at London Palladium, and coincides with the publication of his autobiography. That’s the look, that’s the look… The Look of love.

Public Service Broadcasting have been “teaching the lessons of the past through the music of the future” for over a decade. 2013’s debut album Inform – Educate – Entertain used archival samples from the British Film Institute as audio-portals to the Battle Of Britain, the summit of Everest and beyond.
Two years later, The Race For Space used similar methods to laud the superpowers’ rivalry and heroism in orbit and on the Moon.
In 2017, they were joined by voices including Manic Street Preachers’ James Dean Bradfield for Every Valley.
Their most ambitious undertaking yet, their fourth and most recent studio album, Bright Magic, brought the listener to Europe’s heart and de facto capital, the cultural and political metropolis that is the ‘Hauptstadt’ of the Federal Republic of Germany – Berlin.
The album featured two BBC Radio 6 Music A-Listed singles, “People, Let’s Dance” [ft. EERA] and “Blue Heaven” [ft. Andreya Casablanca], and featured in MOJO, Electronic Sound and PROG magazines’ albums of the year.
Last year, the band released This New Noise, a newly remixed and remastered live recording of their acclaimed 2022 BBC Proms show at London’s Royal Albert Hall.
A celebration of the power of radio written in recognition of the centenary of the BBC, This New Noise saw the band joining forces with the 88 piece BBC Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Jules Buckley.

Three of their 11 UK Top 10 hits reached No 1– Rubber Bullets, I’m Not In Love and Dreadlock Holiday – and made the charts worldwide, which explains the band’s extensive touring schedule which has taken them Australia and New Zealand, Japan, Iceland, Latvia and from Scandinavia down through mainland Europe.

Continuing on from last year’s 50th anniversary celebrations of Mike Oldfield’s Tubular Bells, it has been announced the multi-million-selling and multi-award-winning album will be performed live in concert across the UK this Autumn on a 29 date tour.Tubular Bells is world-renowned as one of the most celebrated examples of music in film for its soundtracking of horror classic The Exorcist.
Its legacy was cemented with Oldfield’s performance of the album’s main theme at the iconic London 2012 Olympics Opening Ceremony, one of the rare performances of the project he has given.
The Tubular Bells UK Autumn tour will feature an expansive live group, conducted and arranged by Oldfield’s long-term collaborator Robin Smith, which will see the iconic Tubular Bells performed in full, as well as other works by Mike Oldfield including Moonlight Shadow, Summit Day, Family Man and Ommadawn.
Tubular Bells, created in 1971 and released in 1973, was the debut studio album by English multi-instrumentalist, composer, and songwriter Mike Oldfield.
At just 17 years old when he started composing the music, Oldfield recorded and played almost all the instruments on the album, gained worldwide recognition when the opening theme was used for the soundtrack of the horror film, The Exorcist and went on to become the highest selling instrumental album of all time.
A bold and progressive fusion, Tubular Bells is a journey through classical, jazz, folk, progressive rock, and electronica and went on to win a Grammy for Best Instrumental Composition in 1974.
Robin Smith, the Musical Director of the tour show, was completely mesmerised by Tubular Bells the moment he heard it. He was educated at the Royal Grammar School High Wycombe and then studied Composition at the Royal College of Music.
He spent several years working as a piano/keyboard player in Africa, the Caribbean, USA, and Europe before coming back to UK to join National Youth Jazz Orchestra. He quickly became the principal pianist and spent most of his free time composing new jazz compositions.
Smith has collaborated with Mike Oldfield for over 30 years, with performances of Tubular Bells including at Edinburgh Castle, and also the 2012 Olympic Games Opening Ceremony.
On the tour, Smith says:“The show was premiered at the Royal Festival Hall in August 2021 to great acclaim as an early celebration of and tribute to Mike – who in my view is one of England’s greatest composers of the last century.
“Along with the musicians, it’s a real privilege to be performing this extraordinary work. It’s as fresh today as it was when Mike created it in 1971 – and I love having the chance to bring it to new audiences as well as those who, like me, are still captivated by it whenever they hear it.
“The wonderful thing about Tubular Bells is that it never seems to age. It takes you on a journey through progressive rock and electronica, blues, folk, jazz and classical and along the way evokes such melodic beauty and drama.
We’ve had plenty of tears from the audience throughout the UK and Europe, with so many wonderful stories of their first experience with Tubular Bells.”
2024 sees The Puppini Sisters celebrate 20 years together. Founded in 2004 by Marcella Puppini, the band pioneered the neo burlesque/swing scene with their immaculate close harmonies and went on to worldwide success releasing 6 albums.
The first of which became the fastest selling jazz album of all time and gathering a multitude of fans around the globe including Michael Bublè and HM King Charles!
Marcella Puppini says:
“I can’t believe it’s been twenty years – time does fly when you’re having fun and it’s definitely been fun! We love to play dress up, sing old songs with a new spin or new songs with an old spin. Swing is infectious and cool, with its intricate syncopated rhythms and its echoes of fabulous dance parties. Harmony singing, in my opinion, resonates deeply with everybody – it’s as if it speaks directly to the soul.”
To mark this 20th Anniversary The Puppini Sisters will embark on a tour that looks back over their career by performing their hits, fan favourites and a few surprises, in preparation for a brand new album to be released in 2025.

Since the mid-late 1990s, Kenny Anderson’s DIY pop alter-ego King Creosote has released over 100 records (at a relatively conservative guess), and his songs have been covered and performed by artists including Simple Minds and Patti Smith. Many of his LPs, EPs and CDRs were self-released via Anderson’s homegrown Fife imprint, Fence-amid major label dalliances (2005’s KC Rules OK and 2007’s Bombshell on Warners), and a long-standing kinship with Domino Records, whose KC dispatches include Kenny and Beth’s Musakal Boat Rides (2003), the Mercury Prize-shortlisted Jon Hopkins union Diamond Mine (2011), and 2014’s From Scotland With Love, which soundtracked the award-winning film of the same name.
Anderson’s latest King Creosote outing is I, Des, an album that characteristically digs deep into his previous work – revisiting and recycling lyrics, home-made tapes, half-spun songs- and continues his quest to navigate mortality, ardour, stormy waters, the moon in the sky, and the East Neuk of Fife.
I, Des is a collaboration with multi-instrumentalist and co-producer Derek O’Neill, aka Des Lawson (2016’s Astronaut Meets Appleman, From Scotland With Love), which upholds an enduring tradition: Anderson has long had an affinity for joining forces with other musicians, including his 90s bluegrass punk rabbles the Skuobhie Dubh Orchestra and Khartoum Heroes; insurgent pop cabal The Fence Collective (James Yorkston, KT Tunstall, HMS Ginafore, The Pictish Trail); and indie-folk supergroup the Burns Unit (Emma Pollock, Karine Polwart, Sushil Dade).
He’s equally commanding whether playing live to capacity crowds at London’s Barbican, Edinburgh’s Usher Hall and Glasgow Royal Concert Hall, or serenading fans in the fishing pubs and pottery shops of Crail and Anstruther; whether playing guitar, banjo, accordion, modular synths or wine glass drones. The common threads are KC’s singular voice, and his roguish, roving, ever-evolving, gorgeous songs in the key of Fife.
Turin Brakes strip back to basics for an acoustic tour starting in Autumn 2024.The band explain:
‘We couldn’t ignore all the love we got for the first acoustic tour (in 2019) when we kept having to add more and more shows due to the demand. We ended up doing about 50 shows when we originally planned to do just one or two! So we decided to do it again and make it another very special and intimate performance. We honestly can’t wait!’
Turin Brakes released their Mercury Prize nominated debut The Optimist Lp in March 2001 (achieving gold status in the UK) and followed it up in 2003 with their most commercially successful album – Ether Song – featuring the Top 5 hit single Pain Killer (Summer Rain).
Since then the band have racked up seven top 40 singles, six top 40 albums and over a million record sales worldwide.

Bursting onto the UK jazz scene in 2020, the Simon Spillett Big Band is that rarest of rare beasts – a genuine all-star jazz orchestra, in this instance uniting some of the most accomplished soloists and bandleaders of today, who’ve come together to celebrate to a colossal musical genius of yesteryear, the late, great saxophonist Tubby Hayes, arguably the nation’s best-loved jazz legend.
Featuring a starry line-up of UK jazz greats under the direction of award-winning tenorist Simon Spillett, the band’s mission statement is simple; to bring back the heady excitement of the Tubby Hayes Big Band of the 1960s, an outfit which raised the roof whenever and wherever it performed. This band follows in the same spirit, creating an intoxicating atmosphere in which its music communicates on every level, the entire package tied together with the leader’s signature insightful wit.
Utilising a repertoire of Hayes’ arrangements, many of which were never issued on record, as well as pieces by his contemporaries like trumpeter Jimmy Deuchar and pianist Harry South, the Simon Spillett Big Band has already proved hugely popular with those who’ve come to hear it, its London debut in October 2021, at the landmark venue the 100 Club, drew an overflowing crowd, eager to catch what one writer has already dubbed “the most hard-swinging big band in existence right now.”
Since then the band has appeared at many leading UK jazz festivals including the EFG London Jazz Festival and at legendary venues including the Pizza Express Jazz Club in London’s Soho.
The band’s debut album “Dear Tubby H.” was released in 2023 and received unanimous praise in the jazz press, Jazzwise magazine awarding it a coveted 5-star review.

“Jeffrey Lewis is an amazing musician, and if you don’t know his songs you probably have a hole in your heart that can only be filled by his words… I did!” – Regina Spektor
The mind-spinning indie-rock/folk/art of Jeffrey Lewis & The Voltage developed when songwriter and comic book artist Jeffrey Lewis began recording homemade cassettes in New York City in 1998; his critically acclaimed, unusual and word-dense songs lead to Jeffrey signing to Rough Trade Records in 2001 (record label of The Smiths, The Strokes, Belle & Sebastian, etc.), and the project evolved into a live touring cult sensation around the world. Creating a brilliant style of scuzzy urban indie-rock-folk, like a 21st Century mash-up of Sonic Youth, Pete Seeger and R. Crumb, Jeffrey’s band has played countless gigs all over the world, including playing as the opening act for icons like the Mountain Goats, Daniel Johnston, Stephen Malkmus & The Jicks, Dinosaur Jr, The Fall, Dr. Dog, Pulp, Roky Erickson, The Vaselines, and more.
Their most recent official album is “Jeffrey Lewis & The Voltage: Bad Wiring” released on Don Giovanni Records (USA) and Moshi Moshi Records (internationally) in November 2019 (garnering rave reviews), but Jeffrey has also digitally self-released four DIY albums from his apartment since the pandemic started. With or without bandmates Jeffrey continues to wring folksy spiel and garage bohemianism from his ramshackle guitar, while incorporating his often politically subversive visual artwork and cartoons into live appearances. Some of these audio/visual projects have been hosted by the History Channel website, such as “The Story of Sitting Bull,” a Jeffrey Lewis illustrated song which won a Webby Award in 2011 for “Best Writing on the Internet.” Jeffrey’s “The Story of Keith Haring” was commissioned by the Museum of Modern Art in 2021.
As of 2024 the 4-piece line-up of Jeffrey Lewis & The Voltage includes Mallory Feuer on violin and keyboard, Kait Pelkey on bass and Brent Cole on drums.

The Selecter is led by their iconic frontwoman Pauline Black OBE with original drummer Charley ‘Aitch’ Bembridge. Pauline is one of very few women in the 2-Tone scene – often referred to as “The Queen of Ska”.
Known the world over for hits including “Three Minute Hero,” “Missing Words”, “Too Much Pressure” and “On My Radio”, The Selecter continue to tour and release new music proving that 2-Tone is still as relevant and important as it was 40 years ago. They released their much-acclaimed new album Human Algebra in 2023.
A 3CD Box Set & Vinyl of Too Much Pressure was released in 2021 to celebrate the album’s 40th anniversary. The Deluxe Edition reached #1 in the Official UK Vinyl Album Charts and #1 in the Official UK Independent Album Charts on its release.
The Selecter recently supported Blur at Wembley and also performed live at the Commonwealth Games Closing Ceremony in Birmingham. The anarchic passion that fuelled Selecter gigs during the original 2-Tone era is still there well and as they continue to perform around the world.

Mercury Music Prize-nominated Lanterns on the Lake hail from Tyneside and have been releasing music on prestigious indie label Bella Union label for over 10 years.
With the recruitment of Radiohead’s Philip Selway on drumming duties, their most recent album Versions Of Us took their distinctive widescreen melancholic sound to new heights. The album’s nine songs are existential meditations examining life’s possibilities, facing the hand we’ve been dealt and the question of whether we can change our individual and collective destinies.
Versions of Us is the band’s most cohesive and concise record yet, with its pervading sense of empowerment encapsulated in Hazel Wilde’s startling vocal performances. Her voice now also soars with previously unheard force on an album austere in its beauty, with its shifting sands of searing guitar, fluttering vintage synths and swarming melodic lines.

The group from Gdansk offers a bold combination of many seemingly remote styles – jazz, film music, minimalism as well as fusion, electronic music and even progressive metal. Clark Tracey, a well-established jazz master, recognised as a most inventive jazz drummer, and, having appeared over many years with the world’s jazz greats, arrives with his new quintet of our best and youngest jazz musicians.
A Five-Time Winner of “Best Drummer” in the British Jazz Awards,
Clark Tracey is a proven group leader, writer and arranger. He has revived the famous jazz suites written by his late father, the great pianist & composer Stan Tracey, “Under Milk Wood” and “A Child’s Christmas in Wales”, bringing these masterpieces successfully to admiring younger audiences.
He creates educational Master Classes across the U.K. and continues to be an in-demand performer across the world.
Joining Clark for this Festival concert are jazz musicians, already making waves on the U.K. jazz scene.
Alex Clarke on alto and tenor saxophones is aged 23 and won the Rising Star in the British Jazz Awards 2 years ago and was runner up in the BBC Young Jazz Musician last year. She has successfully released her debut CD “Only A Year” with Dave Newton, Dave Green and Clark.
Emily Masser is an astonishing vocalist, still 20 years of age and attending the Guildhall School of Music. Her vocalese has already introduced her to hardened jazzers, including Claire Martin and Liane Carroll who have both endorsed her and invited her to sit in with them. Daughter of Dean Masser, her years belie her enormous talent, which began at Chetham’s School of Music.
Graham Harvey on piano is one of our most experienced pianists, studied at Berkley, MD of Incognito, Stacey Kent’s pianist and much sought after as a freelancer playing with major stars including
Dave O’Higgins, Alan Barnes and Mark Nightingale.
James Owston on double bass is 27, a graduate of the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire and again a runner up in the BBC Young Jazz Musician Finals a few years ago. In our opinion, he is the most technically gifted upright bassist in this country and is now working with a variety of musicians.
Please join us for an inspiring evening of great music, featuring Clark Tracey – a great jazz star and band leader, alongside a combination of today’s and tomorrow’s jazz stars.
“One of the most impressive jazz drummers today” – The Times
Clark Tracey was awarded the British Empire Medal (BEM) in the 2019 Birthday Honours for services to music and the promotion of jazz.
