Coventry has a brand new visitor guide to showcase the city’s rich heritage, diverse culture and outstanding visitor attractions.
The official visitor guide, produced by Visit Coventry, brings the city’s story to life, describing it as the ‘music and motor city’ on the vibrant front cover.
The 50-page digital guide delves into music, sport, theatre, galleries, museums, cultural venues, transport and heritage highlighting some of Coventry’s world-famous stories and places as well as some of its best-kept secrets.
It also showcases the city’s events programme, independent businesses, green spaces and its food and drink offer.
The guide, which has been produced with Piece of Cake Marketing and Jade Brand Agency, includes itineraries based around specific interests designed to make it as simple as possible for visitors to explore Coventry and to encourage even more day visits, short breaks and staycations.
The guide also supports the continued growth of Coventry’s visitor economy by encouraging people to spend more time in the city and explore a wider range of attractions and businesses.
Councillor Lynnette Kelly, cabinet member for jobs, regeneration and climate change said: “Tourism plays an important role in supporting the wider local economy, generating expenditure for accommodation providers, hospitality businesses, retailers, attractions, cultural organisations and other local businesses, while supporting employment and creating opportunities across the sector.
“The launch comes at an exciting time for Coventry, with the city already recording very strong visitor numbers and significant economic impact from tourism.
“The new guide provides another opportunity to build on this momentum, strengthening Coventry’s profile as a destination and encouraging even more people to visit. There is lots in there for local people too – a reminder of all the great things in our city.”
The digital guide will be accessed through hotels, visitor attractions, transport hubs, cultural venues, conference locations and other visitor touchpoints and will support destination marketing across the wider region, the UK and international markets.
It will create one source of information and will mean visitors will receive a consistent message about the city, no matter how they engage.
Paul McMahon, managing director of Destination Coventry, said: “At the heart of Coventry’s visitor economy are people. The people who open our doors each morning, welcome visitors, tell our stories, protect our heritage, create our culture and make this city what it is.
“They are joined by the residents who are proud to call Coventry home and by visitors who arrive curious and leave with their own memories of the city.
“This guide is an invitation to share that experience. It is about more than places to go and things to see; it is about the stories we tell, the people we meet, the experiences we create and the sense of belonging that can turn a visit into something memorable.
“Coventry has endured, reinvented itself and continued to look forward, and that spirit lives on in our visitor economy.
“Every visitor who chooses Coventry becomes part of our story, and every person who welcomes them helps write the next chapter. That is what makes our city such a special place to visit, and an even more special place to call home and I hope the visitor guide captures the rich tapestry of Coventry life.”
