What’s on for the 85th anniversary of the Coventry Blitz
Coventry is going to be commemorating the 85th anniversary of the disastrous events from the evening of the 14th November 1940 with a wide range of public events & activities.
The city will be paying tribute to the huge amount of people that tragically lost their lives during this terrible event & persisting to bring communities together for peace. The aim is to inspire a worldwide reconciliation.
Discover how you can help - The Great Blitz Build
Join in the 85th anniversary of the Coventry Blitz by helping to recreate a huge structure of the sadly destroyed Coventry Cathedral. The invite is to all including, schools, families, communities & faith groups.
The Great Blitz Build is lead by Coventry City Council and being created by the highly admired artist Olivier Grossetête. Olivier will be constructing a spectacular large-scale cardboard reimagining of Coventry Cathedral with the support of the people of Coventry.
From Monday 10th to Saturday 15th November there will be free workshops at Drapers Hall supporting the build.
Visit Coventry Cathedral on Friday 14th November for an evening to remember.
They'll be hosting a civic service and vigil in memory of the Coventry Blitz with the theme “Remembering well to move forward". The service will begin at 5:30pm & move to the Cathedral Ruins at 7:10pm, which marks the specific time of the air raid in 1940 & be finished with a two-minute silence.
