Mothering Sundae created at local venue to celebrate Mother’s Day
It will be a case of Mothering ‘Sundae’ later this month as a local dessert venue is putting a twist on the annual celebration – and kids can get a free scoop of ice cream when they treat their mum.
The Sundae Club, which is a 1950s style dessert diner based in the grounds of Coombe Abbey and is run by No Ordinary Hospitality Management (NOHM), has created a special Mothering Sundae that will be launched and available on Mother’s Day on Sunday, March 19.
The sweet treat features a mix of strawberry and vanilla ice-cream, whippy ice cream, fresh strawberries and is topped off with strawberry sauce.
The recipe was created by dessert designer, Ryan Hobday to complement the rest of the venue’s menu, which includes everything from a latte chocolate waffle through to a lemon and white chocolate sundae.
And kids who treat their mum to a Mothering Sundae on Mother’s Day will be given a free scoop of ice cream by the venue.
Sabrina Schreiner, Marketing Assistant and mum of three, said: “We had the idea of creating special sundaes for occasions throughout the year and Mother’s Day seemed to be the best place to start so we’ve created a Mothering Sundae!
“We spoke to a few mums who looked at our current menu and there was a strong consensus that it would be great to throw some fresh strawberries into the mix with some strawberry and vanilla ice cream – all finished off with strawberry sauce and inspired by the strawberry and cream Campino sweets!
“Mums can also add their own extra topping too to make it their own from Fudge cubes to Crunchie bits and white chocolate shavings.”
Whilst on site at The Avenue at Coombe, Mums can be treated to a special bouquet made-up at NOHM’s onsite florist Flowers at Coombe.
Ron Terry, Group Operations Director of NOHM, said: “Coombe has always been a destination for special occasions as families love to come and walk in the grounds and, very often, pay a visit to Coombe Abbey Hotel for afternoon tea.
“The Sundae Club offers the option of a different kind of treat, especially with Flowers at Coombe just next door, meaning mums can certainly be spoiled on Mother’s Day but at an affordable price point.
“It promises to be another busy day for the team but there’s nothing better than helping to make occasions like this even more special for families.”
