Coventry hotel recognised as the most accessible boutique hotel in the UK

A West Midlands hotel has been recognised as the most accessible boutique hotel in the UK.

The Telegraph Hotel, Coventry, has scooped the Liberty Best Boutique Hotel at the Blue Badge Access Awards, an award scheme showcasing hotels, restaurants and other venues which have gone above and beyond to provide accessibility for people with disabilities.

The Blue Badge Access Award win is the latest success for the 88-room hotel, after its recent listing in the top 100 hotels in the UK by the Sunday Times.

The award was received at Hotel Brooklyn in Manchester by Amy Windsor, General Manager at the Telegraph Hotel.  She said: “To be the only city centre entry to be shortlisted in the category and then go on and win the award is an achievement we’re very proud of – and I’d like to thank our staff and guests for making this possible.

“Delivering a high quality of accessibility, service and customer care each and every day for those who spend time at the hotel is of the utmost importance to us, and to be recognised in this way by the leading national accessibility award demonstrates that we’re on the right track.

“Our Freedom Rooms, which are beautifully planned with a range of accessibility features, to give our guests their freedom with no compromise on style, attracted really positive feedback.

“It’s easy to forget that less than a year has passed since we first opened our doors! We are constantly seeking to improve in any way we can, ensuring that when people come to Coventry, whether that be for work or leisure, they have a memorable stay at the Telegraph Hotel.”

The Telegraph Hotel came out on top despite some high-level competition from the Hog Hotel in Lowestoft, Canvas & Campfires in Lampeter, Village in Basingstoke, A Little Bit of Heaven in Cornwall and Calon y Fferri in Carmarthenshire.

The creation of the Telegraph Hotel was a two-year, £20 million investment and renovation programme, which transformed a building that was once an iconic fixture of Coventry’s cityscape and housed the headquarters of the local newspaper, the Coventry Evening Telegraph.

The hotel features many of the building’s original elements and the design has a mid-Century feel, with many period details maintained and furniture from the 1950s included.
