A new region-wide festival is offering Coventry and Warwickshire residents exclusive discounts to some of the region’s top attractions as part of English Tourism Week.
The Coventry and Warwickshire Residents’ Festival will take place from Friday 15 March to Sunday 17 March – with opportunities for residents to enjoy great value local experiences.
Visit Coventry, which is part of destination management organisation Destination Coventry, has organised the celebration of the tourism offer, kick-starting English Tourism Week 2024 which runs from 15 to 24 March.
It forms part of efforts by Visit Coventry to encourage more residents to rediscover attractions that are on their doorstep.
Restaurants, bars, hotels, museums, rugby clubs and a wide range of other visitor attractions will be providing exclusive offers to people with a CV postcode.
There are more than 20 offers being made available across Coventry and Warwickshire as part of the festival.
A free relaxed Coventry walking tour will be led by Ventures with Verity around the Cathedral Quarter across the weekend, for residents to get the chance to learn more about the city they call home.
After the tour visitors to the city centre will be able to access discounted entry to leading attractions such as Coventry Music Museum, Coventry Cathedrals’ tower and tickets to see ‘As SHE Likes It’ and ‘The Glass Menagerie’ at the Belgrade Theatre.
St Mary’s Guildhall is offering 65 per cent off entry during the weekend.
People looking for an evening activity can head to Coventry’s Boom Battle Bar who are offering 50 per cent of their games on the Sunday, with 20 per cent off on Friday and Saturday.
There will also be discounts on food at the Sky Blue Tavern and the Hatton Arms, with drinks offers introduced at The Telegraph Hotel and Triumph Brewhouse.
Residents seeking the perfect cocktail or gin in the wider Warwickshire region will be able to take advantage of offers on the gin school and distillery tours from Shakespeare Distillery, Gin Tasting at Judith’s in Stratford-upon-Avon and drinks at The Barn Social, at the Barn at Berryfields in Meriden.
For those seeking a relaxing weekend, Billesley Manor will be offering free upgrades for afternoon tea bookings and complimentary spa access when booking a treatment, while adventure seekers will get 25 per cent off at Bear Grylls Adventure and 50 per cent off at Hatton Adventure World.
Revellers can enjoy free entry and a drink at 147 Nightclub in Coventry too, with offers on bed and breakfast room packages at Woodland Grange Hotel in Leamington Spa for residents seeking a staycation in another area of the region.
Claire England, Senior Destination Manager at Destination Coventry, says that the festival is a chance for residents to celebrate and support the tourism industry in Coventry and Warwickshire.
“English Tourism Week is all about celebrating what makes tourism across the country great and we have an incredible offer to tourists and locals in Coventry and Warwickshire,” she said.
“Every weekend thousands of people from outside the region flock to our towns and cities to enjoy unique experiences, but in the hustle and bustle of day-to-day life many people living here don’t get the chance to experience what’s on their doorstep.
“The Coventry and Warwickshire Residents’ Festival gives residents the opportunity to do that, whether it’s visiting the incredible St Mary’s Guildhall for the first time, climbing the Cathedral’s tower or experiencing the incredible gin distilling industry in Warwickshire.”
To take part residents will be asked to present a valid Go CV Card, student ID, or any identity card verifying residency in a local CV postcode.
